2017 Turtle Fest.

A juvenile green sea turtle was found stranded on Flagler Beach on December 13, 2016. A Volusia/Flagler Turtle Patrol volunteer brought him to the Marine Science Center for treatment. The turtle, named Zion, had an old, healing propeller injury, low glucose, a slow/irregular heartbeat, was dehydrated, full of parasites, and had a buoyancy issue due to a sluggish digestive system. Zion had an x-ray and CT which, thankfully, showed no spinal cord damage. He was given fluids, pedialyte and antibiotics, digestive stimulants to get his digestive tract working again, and treated for parasites. Zion made a full recovery and was released on April 8, 2017 at the 10th Annual Turtle Fest.
